
PE GILBERT & SULLIVAN’S ‘EVITA’
THE PE Gilbert & Sullivan Society is staging the award-winning musical ‘Evita’, which tells the passionate and unforgettable story of the former first lady of Argentina, Evita Peron.
It is directed by Robin Williams, fresh from her successes last year with ‘Oklahoma’ and ‘Fiela’s Child: The Musical’. Choreography is by Candice Johnstone, while Richard Campbell is musical director. David Limbert is lighting designer.
The title role is played by Chireen Ferreira, with Paul Leonard as Juan Peron and Ace Magxaki as Che. Neville Staples plays jilted lover Magaldi, and newcomers Bianca Bosch and Micayla Fillis share the role of Peron’s mistress.
‘Evita’ runs at the Savoy Theatre in Adcockvale runs until Saturday June 2. Show are at 7.30pm Tuesday to Saturday and there is a matinee at 2pm on May 26. Tickets are R110 at Computicket; discounted tickets are available from cast members. Inquiries: Rose, 072-906-1977.
TUXEDO CLUB CHANGE OF VENUE
TWOTONE Music’s Tuxedo Club returns for one night only on Friday May 25 at 8pm. However due to a double booking by the venue the show will now take place at PE’s Elizabeth Place, in Pickering Street, Newton Park, and not the Walmer Town Hall as previously advertised. Michael Buble meets the Rat Pack and Ol’ Blue Eyes, along with other icons of song, in this salute.

ART EXHIBITIONS
* THE Constructed Self, by NMMU photography lecturer Nina Joubert, has opened at the Athenaeum in Belmont Terrace, PE. The exhibition has been extended until May 30.
