WHAT has essentially been “something on the side” for two Nelson Mandela Bay friends has landed them a trip of a lifetime to New York after their short film entry won the hugely popular Nedbank Savvy competition.
Graphic designers Brett Gieseke and Barry Lottering put their video editing skills to the test and entered the competition which sought to identify clips from around the country best capturing Nedbank’s “savvy” banking concept.
With the help of Lottering’s fiance Amalie Pistorius, the main “actor”, the friends shot their stop-animation film at Humewood Beach next to Happy Valley.
“The idea was to show that simply using a cellphone you could still relax, lie on the beach and do all your banking at the same time,” Gieseke said.
